A Float sponsored and staffed by Mountain View Pediatrics featured Reach Out and Read. During the parade, children in fun costumes and parents pushing strollers passed out books to those lining the Flagstaff streets.
First Annual ROR Relays Grand Success
On May 6th Hopi Health Care Center hosted the First Annual Reach Out and Read Relays. Six teams of six from around Hopi participated and were dressed as story book characters from their favorite books including the Three Blind Mice, Winnie the Pooh, Where the Wild Thing Are and more. The entry fee raised enough money to support their Reach Out and Read book program for the year.
Everyone was in good spirits watching the various teams walk like a duck (the Ugly Duckling), make a magic potion (Harry Potter), dress a team member in traditional Hopi costume (Meet Mindy), run through hoops, scooter race, create mad-libs and more. Local Hopi author, Susan Secakuku, was on hand to host an activity table and sign her book “Meet Mindy”. Congratulations to Susan Bigley and her co-workers for a great event.
